Get an estimate from the discount movers that you have located in your area. Call and set up an appointment for them to come to your home for an in home estimate. If any one of the discount movers that you call are not willing to do an in home estimate then move on to the next one. They should all be willing to do this so it is a red flag if any of them tell you they do not do in home estimates. When doing your research on movers make sure the company does the moving themselves and does not sub contract.
